Since the year 985 at Market Square was a weekly outdoor market, but it ended in 1983, ending a long tradition of 1000 years. The wonder of this place is undoubtedly the bell and "The Halle".
In the belfry of Ghent is located the tourist office, where they recommended us the most interesting places. We started by the adjacent Saint Bavo Cathedral. Behind the cathedral is the geeraard of Duivelsteen, a castle from 1245.
The main shopping streets are located in the old town. Emphasizes the Grote Markt or Grand Place, which is considered one of the most beautiful squares in the world. The Town Hall and the King´s house are the most outstanding buildings.
